I am here because my friend was posting on here and deleted her account because she said people treated her like she lied about her problems and I saw some of the postings sent to her and she was right. She asked because I told her she should to ask for some money to get diapers and wipes, the answer she got was to put the baby in cloth diapers, myself and my boyfriend told her storie to friends at bowling and they gave us money to get her diapers and wipes, yes we even got her some cloth diapers but come on people this site is listed for help and people gave her links I know she used my computer to do this so I saw the links and even helped her with getting to them. I drove her places to get help and she was told no everytime, she worked hard until this happened she is a good person who no one will help not even this site. does this site help only with links because if that is true someone needs to have the search engine list that it is only for links to help places and not all will work for some.

She is homeless and she can get food from one of the homeless shelters but she can't get help from anyone else I try but I can only do so much, she did try here but no one helped her here either. I saw someone name diamond something get sent things but then she was younger. the baby is on medical now and her daughter is getting some help but the people helping the daughter and grandbaby won't let the mom/ grandma stay with them or they will have to leave. Like it or not people only want to help younger people I didn't see it at first but I have been trying to help her and I see what she saw. people are selfish thats all I can say.

Has she tried going to her local food pantry/food bank?  The one I have gone to gives out

food and diapers, toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes etc.  They are very nice people

to deal with and actually show they care.  Not like the food stamp place

they acted like it was an imposition to have to help us.  I hope your friends find help.

Its a very hard time right now for a lot of people and its a shame they couldn't find it in their

hearts to help keep her baby on medicaid.

Thanks, I have been reading the post on this site and counting the answers given and I am seeing what my friend was saying, most of the people who get good help are the younger women, I am still looking for some site that will help her without conditions. No one will help older people women or men it is bad.

I AGREE WITH YOU A 100%.  AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE QUICK TO JUDGEMENT ON THERE OWN PEOPLE.  BUT WHEN IT COMES TO SENDING MONEIES TO OTHER COUNTRIES, BOY WE SEND AND LOTS OF IT! FOOD AND EVERYTHING ELSE.  IF SOME OF THESE PEOPLE THINK ON THIS BLOG SITE THINKS YOU, YOUR FRIEND OR ME, ARE NOT TELL THE TRUTH,THEN....ASK FOR PROFF! NOW THATS WAS NOT HARD TO DO.  BEFORE I RAN INTO HARD TIMES, I USE TO GIVE TO ALOT OF ORGANIZATIONS.  MY MOTHER USE TO SAY....I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO SAY NO. THAT IS JUST THE WAY I AM.  I TRY TO GIVE BACK IF I HAVE IT.

Thanks for your comment Rayhawk,

It seems that when I suggested the idea someone got upset.  I don't know why.  They requested monies for disposable diapers & wipes. I suggest cloth diapers to everyone that ask for diapers.  They are cheaper in the long run and 'eco' friendly.

My mom & dad used cloth diapers on us (me & my sisters & brothers) for years.  They used disposable ones too when they could afford them.  If they could not afford them they did not even ask others let alone complain if they didn't get them.

My Dad always said that if one can no longer afford their 'luxuries, habits, etc' then one may have to stop them.

People have been living for thousands of years without disposable diapers.  Matter-of-fact, people live without 'cloth diapers' as we know them.  Instead they use rags or materials that they have or can find.  Just like you said you did.  I am so very proud of you for being creative in your situation & sharing this with others.  If the economy continues to decline, we will need to come up with many 'inconvenient ways' to survive.

I certainly didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings by suggestion cloth diapers.  However, I stand by what I said.

Thank you for sharing with us 'what can be done' on lower income.

God bless you

I agree with cloth diapers.  I couldn't afford disposables most of the time when my kids were babies and wipes were a luxury.  I had to use not just cloth, I couldn't afford them.  I got used tees from the tee shirt bins at thrift stores and used those.  I cut up really ratty tees and used them for diaper wipes.  I didn't have a washer then so wound up handwashing everything.  Being low income is not an easy life but when you do cut out the high cost of disposables diapers and wipes it really does bring the cost of caring for a child down.

We did use disposables for going to doctors or shopping but that made a pack last quite a while since we used cloth at home or when we visited family etc.

The SITE is a computer community where people share ideas, advice or whatever.

The people ON or attend this SITE are regular people.  Most need help themselves.

I'm the one who suggested the cloth diapers, since they are reuseable therefore, much cheaper in the long run.

I know disposable diapers are more convenient.  However, during these economic times many Americans have had to cut out alot of conveniences & luxuries.

Just offering suggestions.

Have a good night

I'd like to address this issue as well.

I agree with the disposable vs cloth diaper issue. Disposable are expensive, harmful to the baby and the environment. Cloth diapers are expensive at first, but far less costly in the long run - more work, yes, but far better all the way around. As for wipes, well a wash cloth will do just as well, if not better.

As for the cell phone - that is debatable. Many people have only cell phones now. With the rising costs of landlines and the discounts on cellphones ( plus the lack of payphones) some find them not only more convenient but also sometimes less expensive.

Regarding the lack of financial assistance: I believe this board was instituted for the very purpose of people reaching out to one another in any way they can. All of us are in the same boat - trying to raise kids on a meager income and there is never enough til the next payday. Those of us who can, volunteer our  time ( between jobs, kids, etc) to locate information and post it for people in need. If the organizations refuse to help, we cannot be held responsible. As much as we would like to donate to others, financially, it is just not possible.

I'm sorry your friend did not get what she expected, however you cannot fault the people who tried to assist her. They did the best they could with what they had.

Hello, it's unfortunate that your friend is going through a difficult time and I know it does not help that there was no tangible help through this site during this time for her.

Some get help,some don't. It's not a given.

This site is a place where some find value in sharing what they have, some find value in sharing their problems. Honestly,God did not chose to use this site but your friend got help through the bowling alley folks which is great.

It is helpful to understand that real diapers are something that can be washed out by hand and though disposables are nice, they are expensive even for people on two incomes. Your friend may need a more realistic expectation of caring for her baby so the baby alway has diapers.

Don't be dismayed at this.

Disposable diapers are no longer considered the healthiest alternative anyway.

Many of us have had to hand wash diapers to make it at points in our lives.

Your friend posting for money to get diapers and wipes was something one might possibly help with but only once or twice and then the problem would still remain.

With real diapers the baby keeps having the diapers and the mom does not have the stress of wondering how to make it.

If you and your friend could only see the blessing in using real diapers you'd have solved this problem.

As long as I'm doing this I may as well address the cell phone issue. How is that relevant? Perhaps for your friend it isn't.

By the way,I see a lot of young parents with cell phones,it seems those are required anymore..such a shame when that's diaper, rent or food money,NOT cell phone money!
